ISSN: International Standard Serial Number

International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is an international unique numerical code consisting of 8 digit number assigned by the International Serials Data System (ISDS) that is used to identify concisely and uniquely a serial publication. The ISSN system was first drafted as an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) international standard in 1971 and the ISSN International Centre located in Paris, France. In India, National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR), National Science Library (NSL) assigned the ISSN.
